Paseo de Gracia, Barcelona, Spain

The Passeio de Gràcia is located in the core of Barcelona. The population is approximately 1.6 million citizens. The interchange is one of Barcelona’s most central train stations, also linked to three metro lines. Bus services are also provided.

Due its location in the city center, construction works at the station are difficult, while there are particular restrictions on the surface that have formulated the design. For example, there are restrictions regarding the inner design; the walls of the station were built 90 years ago, so the platform width it’s insufficient in rush hours and this has led to make a non typical design for the exits. The same occurs with the accessible connection between the train and the metro lines.

It will be interesting to study how the information provided from different involved stakeholders, i.e. the Barcelona Transport Authority and the Metropolitan Transport Authority, can be integrated and consequently updated.
